Fried green tomatoes, pork belly burnt ends, Frito pie and jambalaya – all of these southern delicacies that you usually struggle to find done right in the Midwest can finally be found in one spot right here in Eagan. Southern Social which opened last May has been an instant success with its modern take on a robust number of southern comfort food classics, extensive cocktail list, large dining room and patio in the summer months.

While working on the restaurant’s concept, the team behind Southern Social set out to Nashville to taste some authentic southern cuisine and bring inspiration back to Minnesota. The resulting menu features all of those amazing items listed above plus pimento mac and cheese, baby back ribs, piping hot buttermilk biscuits served with bourbon honey butter and blackberry preserve and crispy flavorful fried chicken.

The team’s trip down south helped them spot what’s popular in the Nashville dining scene — one revelation was punchbowl cocktails. Operations and business development director, Ben Berry, had his grandmother reach out to her network of grandmothers across the state and soon the team had acquired nearly 60 antique or vintage crystal punch bowls for Southern Social. The Pablo Diablo social drink which serves up to eight people is served in one of the beautiful punch bowls and features Reposado tequila, creme de cassis, lime, cucumber and strawberry-watermelon tea.

A dining experience at Southern Social is a true celebration of southern hospitality and culinary excellence and we hope you see that for yourself soon!
